作品以觀者從船艙狹窄窗框向外凝視的視角展開,將人直接置入一場洶湧風暴之中。海面翻騰,浪濤拍擊,營造出無可逃避的動盪與壓迫感。

畫面中,三艘船隻漂浮於狂風之中:最近處是一艘無動力躉船,它只能被動隨波逐流,必須依賴拖船牽引;稍遠為兩艘貨櫃船,載滿大小不一的貨櫃。這些貨櫃內並非尋常貨物,而是栽種著在極度侷限空間中奮力生長的松樹——象徵人的意志、韌性與生命力,卻被時代洪流與命運強行押上無盡漂泊之途。

最大、最接近觀者的躉船,其貨櫃被刻意置入拖船,強化其徹底的無助:一艘本已沒有自主動力的船隻,連前進的可能也被剝奪。最遠的貨櫃船全身銹蝕殆盡,形同殞地;中間一艘則載有九艘耗盡燃油、報廢的供油船,意味著其動力與希望的逐漸枯竭,如今自身成為無用殘骸。

透過這風暴中的船隊,本作探討被迫漂泊的存在狀態:無論擁有動力與否、距離遠近,人的志向(松樹)與其載體(船隻)終究難逃時代巨浪的撞擊、腐蝕與耗盡。觀者由艙內向外凝視,既是旁觀者,亦是身歷其境的乘客,是這無盡航程中的一員。

This work unfolds from the viewer's perspective inside a ship's cabin, gazing outward through a narrow porthole directly into a raging storm. The turbulent sea and crashing waves immerse the observer in an inescapable atmosphere of chaos and oppression.

Across the stormy waters drift three vessels: closest is a powerless dumb barge, capable only of passive drifting, wholly dependent on tugs for any direction; farther out are two container ships laden with containers of varying sizes. These containers hold no ordinary cargo—they cradle pine trees struggling to grow within severely confined spaces, symbolising human will, resilience, and vitality, yet forcibly consigned to an endless voyage of exile by the relentless tides of the era and inexorable fate.

The largest dumb barge, positioned closest to the viewer, has tugboats deliberately placed within the cargo, intensifying its complete helplessness. The farthest container ship is entirely consumed by rust, reduced to near ruin; the middle one carries nine derelict fuel supply vessels, completely drained of oil—signifying the gradual exhaustion of power, momentum, and hope, now themselves rendered useless wreckage.

Through this storm-bound fleet, the painting explores a condition of enforced drift and displacement: regardless of motive power or proximity, human aspiration (embodied in the pines) and its vessels ultimately cannot escape the relentless pounding, corrosion, and depletion inflicted by the waves of time. From within the cabin, the viewer is both a detached observer and an immersed participant—a fellow passenger on this interminable journey.
