The Secret Texts: Rocks

“The stones, though unable to speak, captivate the most” - Self-Description of My Idle Residence by Lu You

This series of artworks replaces words with ink-drawn rocks, “writing” an “unspeakable story.”

The Inhabitant Islets

The artwork depicts Hong Kong’s uninhabited islands, unreachable by public ferries, painted on silk. Green lighting is added behind the silk’s interwoven textile texture, transforming its weave into pixel-like patterns resembling omnipresent surveillance cameras. The work critiques the pervasive voyeurism and constraints of modern society, prompting reflection on freedom and privacy.
