The Typhoon Harbour

風港

2026 | Ink, colour and silver leaf on paper | 57 x 80 cm

This work unfolds through the slowly falling (or rising) copper foil sun. Through the displaced perspective, the traditional binary landscape of tempestuous outer sea and tranquil inner typhoon shelter is utterly inverted: the inner harbour, intended as a sanctuary, now roils with a gargantuan vortex, ruthlessly engulfing even the fuel barges supplying sailing vessels, rising with black smoke crafted from oxidised silver leaves.

The artwork shifts the crisis from external massive surges to the internal harbour—destruction no longer comes from outer storms but quietly explodes from the "safest" place of sanctuary. This black smoke is no longer a trace of progress but evidence of disintegration—the peace that once symbolised consolation and shelter has collapsed under invisible inner forces. While the world’s surface appears calm, inner consolation and peace can never be regained.
